What I’m Packing

Packing to go travelling around the world for 2 years or so is a bit nerve-racking. It’s hard to pack up your life and fit it in one 65 litre rucksack! Here is a list of what I packed – I’ll update it as I go and let you know what was essential/not needed at all.

Rucksacks

  • 65 litre Osprey rucksack
  • 25 litre Osprey day/carry-on rucksack

Clothing

  • 5 t-shirts – I did not need this many
  • 2 vest tops – I now have 1
  • 2 shirts – One I have used for trekking, the other is a bit nicer for evenings
  • 2 nice throws – I’ve only worn one so far, but the other will be nice in Sydney
  • 1 beach cover-up
  • 1 dress
  • 2 pairs of shorts – one for walking/hiking, one pair of denim shorts
  • 1 pair of culottes
  • 1 pair of long trousers
  • 1 sarong/scarf
  • 2 bikinis
  • 2 swimsuits
  • 1 rash-vest (to protect my back from sunburn when snorkelling)
  • 2 sports bras (1 yoga bra & 1 running bra)
  • 3 normal bras – did not need this many – 2 pairs would have been fine
  • 5 pairs of underwear
  • 2 pairs of socks
  • 1 pair of Teva sandals (essential!)
  • 1 pair of flip flops
  • 1 pair of walking shoes/trainers
  • 1 pair of nice, flat sandals – not essential, but will be nice in Sydney
  • A raincoat

Electricals

  • Laptop
  • Digital SLR camera
  • Mobile phone
  • Battery pack
  • Chargers
  • Headphones & headphone splitter
  • Universal adaptor plug

Miscellaneous

  • Backpack protector (so buckles and straps don’t get damaged on flights)
  • Pacsafe (for keeping my valuables safe in my rucksack)

  • Small first aid kit
  • Sanitary products including a moon-cup – essential for us ladies
  • Micro-fibre towel
