Packing to go travelling around the world for 2 years or so is a bit nerve-racking. It’s hard to pack up your life and fit it in one 65 litre rucksack! Here is a list of what I packed – I’ll update it as I go and let you know what was essential/not needed at all.
Rucksacks
- 65 litre Osprey rucksack
- 25 litre Osprey day/carry-on rucksack
Clothing
- 5 t-shirts – I did not need this many
- 2 vest tops – I now have 1
- 2 shirts – One I have used for trekking, the other is a bit nicer for evenings
- 2 nice throws – I’ve only worn one so far, but the other will be nice in Sydney
- 1 beach cover-up
- 1 dress
- 2 pairs of shorts – one for walking/hiking, one pair of denim shorts
- 1 pair of culottes
- 1 pair of long trousers
- 1 sarong/scarf
- 2 bikinis
- 2 swimsuits
- 1 rash-vest (to protect my back from sunburn when snorkelling)
- 2 sports bras (1 yoga bra & 1 running bra)
- 3 normal bras – did not need this many – 2 pairs would have been fine
- 5 pairs of underwear
- 2 pairs of socks
- 1 pair of Teva sandals (essential!)
- 1 pair of flip flops
- 1 pair of walking shoes/trainers
- 1 pair of nice, flat sandals – not essential, but will be nice in Sydney
- A raincoat
Electricals
- Laptop
- Digital SLR camera
- Mobile phone
- Battery pack
- Chargers
- Headphones & headphone splitter
- Universal adaptor plug
Miscellaneous
- Backpack protector (so buckles and straps don’t get damaged on flights)
- Pacsafe (for keeping my valuables safe in my rucksack)
- Washbag
- Small first aid kit
- Sanitary products including a moon-cup – essential for us ladies
- Micro-fibre towel
- 3 books
- Playing cards
- Notebook, pen & some amazing pencils (thanks Lydia!)
